Mother’s Day is round the corner!

Mother’s Day is this Sunday if anyone’s wondering. So, have you made your plans to treat your Mum this year? Here are a few things you can consider doing and they don’t have to cost you an arm and a leg!

Spend time with Mum

Spend some quality time with you Mum by taking her to a local park. If you are in KL, a nice place to go to is the Sentul Park and the Sentul Koi Park Centre which is free and very relaxing.

If you aren’t living the same town as your Mum, pick up the phone and give her a call! She’ll be so happy to hear from you. Better yet, if you are overseas, don’t forget to call home. Everyone would love to hear from you, not just your Mum!

Cook Mum Dinner

Cook something for Mum if you can. She’ll definitely appreciate it! Or how about a steamboat? That’s simple and requires minimal cooking.

If you can’t cook, or never learnt how to, you can avoid the crowds at restaurants and instead takeaway food and have them in the comfort of your own home. Many restaurants do takeaways these days. Why pay to crush with the crowds when you can eat the same food in the comfort of your own home?

Clean the house

Surprise Mum by taking over the house chores for the weekend. And perhaps every weekend if you live at home. If you don’t, you could arrange for a part time maid to come over to Mum’s place and clean it every 2 weeks or every month so Mum gets some time off.

Pamper your Mum

Book her a facial or a massage. Your Mum might be new to facials or she might have not gone for one for a long time – now’s a good time for her to go. Since Bangkok isn’t accessible right now, a relaxing Thai massage at Touches de Siam at Bangsar might do the trick. Its not too pricey and my parents enjoyed it!

Buying a gift?

If you plan on buying Mum a gift, make sure its something she will use. This is not the time to buy her yet another bottle of perfume that she keeps away because she’s allergic to alcohol. This is also not the time to buy her expensive skincare she will only use once. Buy her something she will use – she will appreciate the thought more.

Whatever you plan to do, enjoy the day with your Mum because this is HER day :)
