Garnier Men Turbolight Oil Control range
I was recently given a sample of the Garnier Men Turbolight Oil Control Moisturiser. It’s a new product from Garnier Men which is part of their oil control range. The oil control range claims to help rectify skin dullness, removes blackheads and leaves the face 6hrs shine-free. Seeing as how oily faces are one of the main problems men have, I was very eager to give it a try.
The bottle claimed 6hr oil-absorbing action and anti-grease brightening. It also said that it resists extreme hot and humid weather. Since I was going on a trip to Bangkok, I decided to bring it along. Nothing gets more hot nor humid than the streets of Bangkok.
The first thing I noticed was that it sort of “dries” very quickly when you apply it. Hence, you have to be quick when applying it. However, after application, I found it to be quite moisturising and did not have that tight feeling on the face. I applied it in the morning and then proceeded to walk all over Bangkok. I only returned to the hotel at night and I can happily conclude that the oil-absorbing action lasts for more than 6hrs!!
My face was still generally shine-free by the time I got back to the hotel which was about 10-12 hours after application. The only spot on my face that gave off a bit of shine was my nose. This was in addition to having applied some sunscreen on top of the moisturiser. Understandably, I was very pleased with the product and can personally vouch that it is as they claim, an anti-grease moisturiser.
It is also supposed to be brightening but I didn’t really see any difference to my skin tone after using it. However, it did say that results will be seen after 1 mth and I was only using it for a few days. So, if it is also brightening in addition to being oil-absorbing, that can only be a good thing and an added bonus. It lightens the skin by use of lemon extract and salicylic acid.
Seeing how well it performed in Bangkok, I’m very sure that it will work well under our Malaysian weather as well. So far, this is one of the best ant-shine moisturisers that I have used and the best part, is that it is relatively cheap! It can be found in many pharmacies or supermarkets and the suggested retail price is RM18.90. That I would think, is pretty good value for money. So, if you are in the market for an anti-shine moisturiser, do give the Garnier Men Turbolight Oil Control Moisturiser a try. I think you will be equally pleased with the results.

This moisturizer is really average and it’s price reflects that. It doesn’t provide moisturize my skin properly (i have oily skin) and it leaves a white sheen on my face even though I apply sparingly and blend properly. Looking at the ingredients it contains titanium dioxide, which is an ingredient in make up foundations. titanium dioxide really just makes the face white-ish and that’s where the so called “brightening effect” comes from. Oil control is average and no different from other moisturizers I have used. The concentration of salicylic acid and glycolic acid is too low and won’t really make a difference to the skin. The author’s claims of 10-12 hours of oil control is so far fetched that it is beyond amusing.
It begs the question, How much is L’Oreal paying the owner(s) of this blog to write the review of their products??
@uruz: L’Oreal paid us RM0.00 – we do not write paid reviews. Titanium Dioxide is a physical blocker used in sunscreens and sunblocks and is sometimes present in makeup foundation that contains SPF. It does give a white cast but does not brighten per se. Different products work differently for different people. I guess this one just didn’t work for you – Thanks for sharing
Loreal? It’s Garnier… How can you missed that?
