A trend in men’s shirts that is making a comeback is the contrast collar shirt with striking white collars and cuffs against a plain or striped shirt. Made popular by Swiss and German bankers, it is also known as the bankers shirt for its traditional and classic office look.
“The offsetting white collar is a classic on plaid or striped shirts that has been worn and treasured since the end of the 19th century” says men’s fashion expert Bernhard Roetzel of Berlin.
It may look a little more casual than a solid colour shirt but fashion-conscious men today are opting to wear them for most formal occasions as the contrast of colours makes a nice highlight against a dark suit.
