The English champions’ pre-season tour of Asia had been disrupted by the recent terrorist attacks in Jakarta, forcing the Red Devils to pospone their proposed trip to Indonesia. Malaysian Man Utd fans got a bonus treat last night when they decided to play a rematch against the Malaysian side at the Bukit Jalil stadium, and JesTer was in the crowd!
It was an exciting match for most of the evening, but Man Utd took control of almost every aspect of the match, and both goals were scored within 15 minutes of the first half. The first came from Federico Macheda and Michael Owen tapped in the second…both from very close range.
23 year-old Wayne Rooney stole the hearts of the Malaysian Man Utd fans, who were chanting his name in feverish awe as soon as he was substituted in to replace Macheda early in the second half. His fans were also quick to forgive him for clashing into Malaysia XI’s keeper Mohammad Marlias and charging in unnecessarily at the ankles of midfielder Amar Rohidan.

To me, Rooney looked really angry and unhappy the whole night. I wonder if it had anything to do with his recent ear injury as he clashed into Mohammad Marlias, since his ear had just been stitched, and a foul was awarded against him in favour of the Malaysian keeper.
Anyway, despite the constant beating of drums and cheering from Malaysian fans eager for their team to score at least one goal against the Red Devils last night, the Malaysia XI team were very obviously outclassed and did very little to stay in the game.
For hard core Man Utd fans like me, my heroes of old go way back to the days of Gary Bailey, Gordon McQueen, Ray Wilkins, Brian Robson, Norman Whiteside, Mark Hughes, Gordon Strachan, Eric Cantona, Andrei Kanchelskis, Roy Keane, Ruud van Nistelrooy and of course Ryan Giggs…who also played last night!

If you know every single one of these names and more, then you are a certified hard core, true-coloured, die-hard Red Devils fan just like me!
